HPE StoreEver LTO Ultrium Tape Drives offer nine generations of linear tape open (LTO) technology, each of which is capable of storing up to 45 terabytes per cartridge. Additionally, these drives feature hardware data encryption, HPE StoreOpen with linear tape file system (LTFS), and unmatched levels of user friendliness and performance. The use of data encryption technology that employs AES 256 bits provides security that is simple to activate, therefore securing even the most sensitive data and preventing illegal access to tape cartridges. The open standard known as LTFS for data storage on tape is what enables LTO cassettes of generation 5 and later to store data in a file-based manner and to describe themselves. The process of data rate matching further improves performance by matching the speed of the host system to that of the drives in order to sustain streaming, which ultimately enables faster tape performance.
