There is a hard disk in every PC. This is the location where you will store all of your data and files. The hard drive is made up of spinning disks that are used to store your data through electrical means. The hard drive will get the required file from the disk and send it to the computer whenever the user makes a request for it. The storage capacity of hard drives may vary, but is commonly measured in gigabytes or terabytes. When you buy a new PC, the hard drive will already have an operating system installed on it. This is the program that must be installed on your computer for it to work properly. There may be more applications installed on your hard disk, such as a web browser or word processor. In addition to storing data on it, your hard drive also allows you to install new applications, if you so choose.
