The battery for the ThinkPad notebook is either an extra battery or a replacement battery for the battery that is already in your laptop. The battery is able to be recharged, so it may either serve as a backup or be utilized in its stead. It is protected by a safety chip and runs on lithium-ion technology, which provides the electricity.
