Aruba CX 6100

The Aruba CX 6100 is an access-focused switch for branch offices, small sites, and wiring closets that do not need the capacity of a larger aggregation platform. Current AOS-CX documentation includes static routing support, so it can handle basic Layer 3 routing requirements even though its primary role is access switching.

The family includes 12-, 24-, and 48-port options, with PoE budgets that vary by model and reach up to 740W on selected 48-port models. HPE also states that the base switch software does not require a separate software feature license or subscription; an Aruba Central subscription is still required if you choose to manage the device through Central.

VSF support is available on the CX 6100 in AOS-CX 10.16 and later, with up to six members and model-mixing restrictions. If stacking is part of your design, confirm the model and required software version before you standardize on that topology.

Aruba CX 6300

The Aruba CX 6300 fits sites that need more Layer 3 capability, higher-speed uplinks, more PoE options, or a larger logical access layer. It is commonly used for campus access and aggregation and is a stronger fit when a location needs to scale beyond a standalone access switch.

VSF can combine up to 10 CX 6300 switches into one logical stack. The CX 6300 also supports a two-member VSX cluster on qualifying models, but VSF and VSX are mutually exclusive and the VSX profile has model and software requirements, so verify the model and design before you choose between them.

The CX 6300 family includes a broad mix of copper, Smart Rate, fiber, PoE, and uplink configurations. That range is useful for standardization, but it also makes model-level validation important when you are sizing port speeds, PoE budgets, optics, or redundancy.

Aruba CX 8360 v2

The Aruba CX 8360 v2 is built for higher-capacity aggregation, campus core, and data center top-of-rack roles. Aruba issued an end-of-sale notice for the original CX 8360 generation and named CX 8360 v2 models as the replacement, so v2 is the generation to compare when you are planning a new purchase.

HPE Networking Instant On is designed around simpler small-business deployment and management. Instant On switches can use the Instant On mobile app or web application for cloud management, and supported switches can also use a local WebUI when configured for local management.

Aruba CX uses AOS-CX and is aimed at environments that need deeper switching, routing, automation, stacking, and enterprise management capabilities. The product lines use separate management experiences, so an Instant On switch is not managed as a CX switch in Aruba Central even if both product families exist within the same broader network.
