Introducing the Cisco Meraki MR28, your gateway to cloud-managed Wi-Fi 6 access. This dual-band, 802.11ax, 2x2:2 entry-level access point is tailor-made for basic, medium-density deployments. Offering enterprise-grade security and streamlined management, the MR28 ensures hassle-free networking.

Delivering a maximum aggregate frame rate of 1.5 Gbps* across both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios, the MR28 guarantees reliable connectivity. Equipped with MU-MIMO 802.11ax technology and enhanced transmit power and receive sensitivity, it optimizes performance for small businesses and home office networks.

With features like integrated enterprise security, guest access, and application-aware traffic shaping, the MR28 prioritizes security and efficiency. Its self-configuring, plug-and-play deployment ensures seamless setup, making it ideal for businesses seeking dependable and secure wireless connectivity.

Product Highlights:

• 2x2:2 MU-MIMO 802.11ax

• 1.5* Gbps dual-radio aggregate frame rate

• Enhanced transmit power and receive sensitivity

• Integrated enterprise security and guest access

• Application-aware traffic shaping

• Optimized for voice and video

• Self-configuring, plug-and-play deployment

The MR28 boasts a dual-radio aggregate frame rate of up to 1.5 Gbps*, combining a 5 GHz 2x2:2 radio and a 2.4 GHz 2x2:2 radio, delivering exceptional speeds with up to 1,201 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and 286 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band. Leveraging technologies like transmit beamforming and enhanced receive sensitivity, it supports a higher client density compared to typical enterprise-class access points, ensuring superior performance for a larger number of clients per AP.

With support for features of 802.11ax, the MR28 offers MU-MIMO and UL/DL OFDMA, facilitating more efficient transmission to multiple clients simultaneously. This is particularly beneficial in environments with numerous mobile devices, enhancing total network performance and the end-user experience. The MR28 features automatic cloud-based RF optimization, eliminating the need for dedicated hardware and RF expertise. RF data collected is continuously fed back to the Meraki cloud, which automatically tunes channel selection, transmit power, and client connection settings for optimal performance, even under challenging RF conditions.

Integrated enterprise security and guest access are seamless with the MR28, featuring easy-to-use security technologies such as AES hardware-based encryption and Enterprise authentication with 802.1X and Active Directory integration. Additionally, one-click guest isolation provides secure, Internet-only access for visitors, while PCI compliance reports simplify secure retail deployments. Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) & Mobile Device Management (MDM) integration is seamless with Meraki Systems Manager, offering automatic, context-aware security. Systems Manager's self-service enrollment facilitates rapid MDM deployment without additional equipment, dynamically tying firewall and traffic shaping policies to client posture.

Application-aware traffic shaping is enabled through an integrated layer 7 packet inspection, classification, and control engine, allowing configuration of QoS policies based on traffic type. This prioritizes mission-critical applications while setting limits on recreational traffic like peer-to-peer and video streaming, with flexibility to implement policies per network, per SSID, per user group, or per individual user. Industry-standard QoS features ensure important applications are prioritized correctly, not only on the MR28 but on other devices in the network. Wireless MultiMedia (WMM) access categories, 802.1p, and DSCP standards all contribute to optimized performance. Unscheduled Automatic Power Save Delivery (UAPSD) and new Target Wait Time features in 802.11ax clients minimize battery drain on wireless VoIP phones.
